Program Used: Paint Shop Pro X Skill Level: Easy/Intermediate Notes: Should be familiar with layers and effects Written By: Julie Russell Patterned Paper Step one: Creating the pattern. Start a new image 200 x 200 pixels at 200 resolution with a white background. Create new raster layer. Materials palette foreground/background choose colors of your choice. In this tutorial I used minty green #91f5bd (foreground) and dark cream #dfcb9b (background). Choose brush tool with the following settings: ![]() Step two: Now dab a few squares of minty green and then a few squares of dark cream. Make sure you've chosen your new layer and not the background. You should now have something like mine. It doesn't matter where you dab your squares so feel free to add as many or as little as you want. ![]() Step Three: Apply an effect to your dabbed squares. Effects>Reflection Effects>Pattern... I used the settings below. You can play with the random selection button until you find a pattern you like. ![]() SAVE! Step Four: Creating the paper. Start a new image 1200 x 1200 (8' X 8') at 200 resolution. For more on dimensions see this guide. Create a new raster layer. Now flood fill the layer with your pattern. ![]() Step Five: Merge all or flatten your image and then save as .jpg! Done! ![]() Now that you have the basic idea for creating patterns you can not only use this technique for papers but for many other uses as well. Simply create your pattern and then flood fill any shape. Add some texture and finished edges to your paper! Learn how by viewing this tutorial! ©Sajestic Designs |
