Program Used: Paint Shop Pro 10 Skill Level: Intermediate/Advanced Notes: Should be familiar in working with vectors and preset shapes Written By: Julie Russell Text on a Path One of the most common questions asked is "How do I create text on a path?". This particular technique is used in Digital Scrapbooking and can be seen throughout many layouts. In this tutorial we cover the basics of how to get your text onto a path. What you do from here is up to you! Step 1: Create a New Image. tip: In this Tutorial I used the dimensions of 800X400 pixels at 72 dpi. If your creating for a scrapbook page to be printed. Then make sure your resolution is set to 200 - 300 dpi. Step 2: Add a new Vector Layer. Call this layer My_Path. tip: As a great time consuming tip you should get into the habit of renaming your layers within your projects. This helps in the long run for when you need to refer back to a certain layer and will help organize multiple layer graphics. ![]() Step 3: With your Pen Tool, create your path. I've chosen a line width of 4.00 for easier viewing. ![]() Select None. Step 4: Add a new Vector Layer. Rename to My_Text. Choose the font you want to work with. Set the alignment to center and then click somewhere in the center of your path to add your text on the My_Text Layer. (not the path layer) ![]() ![]() Select None. Step 5: Choose the My_Path Layer. Hide the visibility by clicking on the eye Icon. This is what your finished result will look like. ![]() If you like it, convert your text layer from a vector to a raster layer. Then copy this layer, paste as a new image and now you can save as a pspimage to use for future projects. ![]() Done! Once you master this technique the creative possiblilities are endless. Here is a sample of text on a path only this time the path used was the My_Heart preset shape. View the tutorial for My_Heart Preset Shape here. ![]() ©Sajestic Designs |
